The Shot Dude: Back into the Ice Grinder

Sometimes a day off is just what one needs to relax, refresh, and get perspective.

But your favorite Shot Dude says phooey on that!

With only one NHL game yesterday, I was like a lost puppy. I hope you enjoyed my foray onto the hardwood, but that was just a side dish to our weekly main course of puck prognostication.

With a clean sheet of ice -- thank you, Mr Zamboni driver -- we lace 'em up and get back on the ice today to grind out a winning lineup for your fantasy games, using FanDuel pricing, of course!

There are 24 teams in action tonight and you can check out all the matchups on our Home page by using the Bovada data tool:

NHL schedule 10 Nov 2015

Forwards

Claude Giroux, Philadelphia ($7900) ... and his Flyer teammates get to skate on home ice against Colorado tonight. The Avalanche give up 30.4 shots per game, which is ninth-worst in the NHL. Avs opponents have scored 42 goals in 14 games, which ranks fifth worst in the league. This bodes well for Giroux, since he's popped 4 goals on 38 shots and averages almost 21 minutes of ice time per contest.

Patrick Sharp, Dallas ($7200) ... and his Stars comrades are also at home, hosting Toronto. This Dallas offense has been explosive so far, ranking second in goals scrored with 54 to date. They have six different players who've lit the lamp at least four times. Sharp is among them -- with 6 goals on 45 shots -- and has added 6 assists, as well. On top of all that, the Maple Leafs are -- how to put this delicately? -- the Leafs, only winning one road game so far this season.

Tyler Toffoli, Los Angeles ($5700) ... and his Kingly pals entertain Arizona tonight. The Coyotes were one of the two teams that played yesterday, so they most likely will be on tired legs. The Kings are one of the hottest teams right now, winning 8 of their last 10. Toffoli has scalded opposing netminders, converting 9 of his 32 shots into goals. You cannot find his level of recent production in any other player for under $6000 on FanDuel.

Defensemen

Justin Faulk, Carolina ($6100)...and his Hurricane chums travel to the Big Apple to square off against the Rangers. It's rare to have a blueliner as your leading shot taker/goal scorer, but Faulk fills both roles for Carolina. In fact, he has 14 more shots than his next closest teammate and has scored 5 goals on his 51 shots. I really like Faulk's chances in this matchup due to his average of almost 25 minutes on the ice each game.

Brian Campbell, Florida ($4400) ... and his Panther pack get home-ice advantage against Calgary. He's today's value play and forh good reason. Dude's the point man on the Panthers' second power play unit and has already generated 3 special teams points. He's scored 1 goal and assisted on 5 others while averaging over 20 minutes of ice time per contest. This is very good production for only $4400 in a game Florida should dominate and score several times.

Goaltender

Jonathan Quick, Los Angeles ($8900) ... has really improved after a slow start to this season. If you take a peek at his FanDuel game logs, you'll see Quick has cored 5.6 FD points or higher in 7 of his last 9 games. He has 7 wins and an improving .917 save percentage in 12 games started. Any goalie at home facing a team that's played the night before -- like Quick is tonight -- makes my Shot Dude radar ping. I foresee a W and a Kings' 3-1 victory.

Your favorite Shot Dude is just hoping that whoever made that one-game NHL schedule last night never does so again and wishes you success in all your fantasy contests.

Remember that you can't win unless you give it your best shot!
