Empty Promise: Vancouver Canucks Believe Non-Sellout Streak Can Rival Sellout Streak

As one door closes, another opens.

The Vancouver Canucks' sellout streak -- a 474-game stretch in which no seat was left unoccupied by a texting, yawning, too-much-money tool -- ended with the tilt against Tampa Bay last Saturday night.

The Vancouver Canucks non-sellout streak, however -- a one-game span in which lots of seats were left unoccupied by the aforementioned tools -- is up and running.

And the Canucks' brass believes there's much more to come.

"We're in a great place right now. Ticket prices are still exorbitantly high, the team is average at best, fans are waiving their no-trade clauses and moving to Anaheim ... We could really turn this into something special."

Special enough to beat the sellout streak?

"I'm not saying we'll beat 474 ... I'm just saying."

After an early blip against the Alberta teams, the on-ice product is now fully on board. The weekend's Stamkospalooza was followed up with a 6-3 bed-wetting against the Dallas Stars on the road.

Not selling out on that pitiful standard will be essential if the Canucks are to fulfill their empty promise.
