Connor McDavid Has a Broken Collarbone

Seems like the Edmonton Oilers still can't buy a break.

But the Philadelphia Flyers just gave them one.

Sorta.

Two of their defensemen actually doled it out -- legally, on a hustle play -- to phenom Connor McDavid:

Bummer.

Dude was logically anointed as October's Rookie of the Month for posting 12 points in 12 games, and it looked like he was just getting warmed up.

It appeared the Oil's haul of four straight No 1 overall draft choices was getting its collective act together in a string of four one-goal decisions against quality opponents. Even after McDavid donned a sling, Edmonton had enough to post a 4-2 triumph over the Flyers.

McDavid's injury just deflated a brace of highly anticipated events:

  • He would've matched up against the Blackhawks' Jonathan Toews on Sun 8 Nov;
  • His Toronto homecoming is on the docket for Mon 30 Nov; and
  • He could've spent some serious one-on-one ice time against No 2 pick Jack Eichel when the Sabres hit the Northlands on Sun 6 Dec.

This is surely disappointing to Canadians everywhere.
