The Shield Squashes Its Most Popular Meme Generator

The NFL is undoubtably the most popular sport in the USA.

I don’t know what it is -- well, maybe I sorta do -- but there's something about watching a bunch of big muscley dudes try to move an ovoid ball to the end of a field that enthralls Americans.

However, for as popular as the NFL is, the league has a history of killing everything that makes it fun to watch.

The most recent example was the ban on the goal post dunk celebration.

While a vast majority of players draw the ire of the No Fun League for their on-field antics, Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch has made a hobby out of upsetting the league with his off-field silence.

Dude's drawn the ire of the poobahs for his decision to not talk to the media, a choice that's cost him a pretty penny. Beast Mode continued on his warpath this season, most notably at this year’s Super Bowl Media Day.

Lynch’s words have inspired tons of popular internet memes, as well as his trademarking the phrase, I’m just here so I don’t get fined.

The league's corporate suits in their role as high priests won’t stand for such fun things, and they fined Lynch $75,000 for his refusal to talk to the boring media after the Seahawks victory in the NFC Championship Game. Lynch appealed the fine, but has since dropped it after the league agreed to suspend the fine as long as Lynch agrees to talk the media in the future.

Just know that talking to anyone isn't exactly his strong suit:

Unless, of course, someone pays for his spoken word:

Otherwise, congrats, Commish and assorted sychophants, you've succeeded in forcing Beast Mode to answer the media’s dumb questions. Still, you've tried this tactic before, only to have Marshawn go back to his silent ways.

Dude says he's gonna comply, so get set for more dismissive quotes. And keep those memes coming.
