The Redskins Get Their Trademark Back

Maybe this wasn't the headliner when the Supremes did their thing before scooting outta chambers for summer break.

But it was the only one with a kajillion dollars in implications.

If only the Slants could earn that much from it.

But at least they can be who they thought they were.

Besides being a small victory for self-determination, this ruling popped the champagne corks in another quadrant of the nation's capital.

The Feds -- after further review -- conceded the Washington Redskins are free to be their mega-merchandising selves again.

Why, yes. Yes, they do.

In fact, team owner Darth Snyder can't wait to see his merch revenues rebound after it's now OK to say his company owns Redskins again.

Since the original Americans didn't have a travel ban, the melting pot that both the USA and Canada have become has set the stage for some rather interesting mixtures.

It's all a matter of perspective. For example, is this extreme show of support ...

Bottom line: There are just some things that have to sort themselves out.

As the esteemed Supreme Court Justice Potter Stewart wrote in his decision on a precedent-setting obscenity case:

I can't define it, but I know it when I see it.

Well, now Slants fans will know them when they see them and hopefully buy their stuff.

In their wake, so will Redskins fans, who have always known their team and been fine with it.
