Sharper Brags About Raping Women

As if this Darren Sharper story couldn't get any worse, it was disclosed yesterday that the former -- and now, really former -- safety and one of his buddies bragged to others about drugging and raping women.

The New Orleans police report states that two women told New Orleans police that Sharper and his friend — identified as Erik Nunez, 26 — each had sex with them while the women “were under the influence of an unknown substance” on the night of 23 September of last year.

The women said they were “substantially impaired by the substance to a degree that both do not recall the entirety of the sexual intercourse."

Each woman also said she “awoke from the stupor” to find Sharper on top of her, “completely nude,” according to the warrant. Both denied consenting to the sex, police said.

Also, a friend of both Sharper and Nuez said the pair told them that they did have sex with these women without their permisson.

To this point, Sharper has been accused of raping nine women in several different states, which basically makes him a serial rapist if these allegations are true.

What I don't understand is why did it take the police in New Orleans this long to follow up? When complaints were filed in LA back in January, the LAPD looked into it immediately. The rape allegations first came up in New Orleans several months before Sharper was arrested in Los Angeles. 

And the allegations in New Orleans were made by two women, just like in Los Angeles, so the NOPD cannot say they were of the she-said-he-said variety.

It's a shame that Sharper has been allowed to terrorize several communities because the police didn't take these matters seriously enough to look into them from the beginning.
