Sanchez May Need Season Ending Surgery

Mark Sanchez either needs to thank New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan or slap him.

Reports are that Sanchez will need season-ending surgery after getting hurt late in the Jets' last pre-season game of the year.

If you're Sanchez, that's a good news/bad news situation. Good news is, he doesn't have to get beat up this year playing for the Jets. Bad news is, what if his shoulder is really badly damaged and he is out for a truly extended period?

The writing was on the wall for Sanchez, anyway, when Geno Smith was drafted in April, but Rex Ryan may have ruined this guy's career just for being an idiot.

If that's the case, if  I were Sanchez and I never played again, I'd search high and low for a legal precedent to sue Rex Ryan and the New York Jets.

As we reported a few weeks ago, the Jets have managed to destroy several NFL quarterbacks' careers, and if they haven't added Sanchez to the list already, they can surely get their pencil sharpened.

Here is a guy who went into the season looking as if he would hold on to his role as the starting signal-caller; now he is staring at the possiblity of perhaps never starting again.

The Jets had best hope that, like Allstate, Sanchez has a forgiveness policy and will find work elsewhere.

But the Jets and their fans should be used to that scenario by now.
