Running on Empty

The Steelers and Bengals wrap up Week 2 of the NFL season with both teams looking to avoid an 0-2 start.

Bovada favors the Bengals by a touchdown, but it's the total of 41 that piques my interest.

Neither team appears to have the ability to run the ball consistently, and proof can be found by using the Bovada data tool on the Home page. Notice there that they combined for 94 yards last week, while their passing games weren't anything near Peyton Manning-esque, either (or even Eli, for that matter).

Both defenses were able to keep their teams in their games last week and will tonight, and that's why I am staying away from the side here.

I do know -- and the data tool will show you -- that the under has cashed the last three times these teams have played, and it has also hit in four of the last six in Cincinnati.

With these two teams unable to run the ball but with defenses able to hold their own, I see a low-scoring game here that makes the under the way I will go.

My pick:  Steelers at Bengals   under 41

UPDATE:

Result ... Cincinnati 20 Pittsburgh 10     under covers
