Richardson Trade Outrages Fans and Teammates

The Cleveland Browns may insist that they haven't given up on the 2013 season, but after they traded No 1 draft choice Trent Richardson to the Indianapolis Colts, you have to wonder.

The Browns sent Richardson to the Colts for a first-round draft choice in 2014. They claimed the main reason is he doesn't fit into their offensive plan. Or is there more to it than that?

Still.

First of all, what offense? From what I've seen of the Browns, they have no offensive identity. Secondly, as one NFL writer put it, with a talent like Richardson, you fit your offense around him.

But not everyone feels that way. A number of NFL experts are saying that this was a good deal for the Browns because they can get a quarterback next year.

Let's get real, here!

Did anyone think for a second that the 2013 Cleveland Browns -- even with Richardson -- were going to make the playoffs this year?

More than likely, they were going to be one of the first five or ten teams picking next year, anyway. So, the Browns will then have a top quarterback and no top running back to accommodate him. Nice.

Browns fans, of course, were outraged. Many of them were saying they were done with the Browns after this trade. The players too were shocked.

Richardson trade comments

Yeah it was that kind of day for the Browns players. As for the Colts, they are thrilled to pieces to get Richardson to complement quarterback Andrew Luck. Jim Irsay, owner of the Colts, predicted a huge trade and he was right.

Nothing is guaranteed, but knowing the Browns' luck, Richardson with go for 2,000 yards, win a Super Bowl, and be named MVP.

That in a nutshell sums up the Browns organization.
