RGIII and Reality Need an Introduction

Ah yes, it's that time of year. The NFL pre-season's almost a wrap, and with that, we're blessed with comical quotes.

Robert Griffin III, aka RGIII, is a media whore. He enjoys the spotlight more than Regis Philbin.

Honestly, dudes more associated with his social media rants than his actual play on the field. And for the latter, he'd best thank a domineering, micro-managing owner.

Because bro:

Proof yet again that Griffin's nickname to everyone else should be RG ME.

Regardless of his play on the field and his opinions off it, dude's belief that he's the best quarterback in the NFL is reason enough for heightened drug testing.

The best. Really, Robert?

I don’t feel like I have to come out here and show anybody anything or why I’m better than this guy or better than that guy. It’s more about going out and affirming that for me, I go out and I play,I know I'm the best quarterback on this team.

I feel like I’m the best quarterback in the league and I have to go out and show that.

But, he didn't stop there. Because, as we all know, Griffin likes to talk.

Any athlete at any level, if they concede to someone else, they’re not a top competitor, they’re not trying to be the best that they can be.

There’s guys in this league that have done way more than me. But I still view myself as the best because that’s what I work toward every single day.

So, at least he isn't totally delusional.

He does know that four-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady is still quarterbacking and Aaron Rodgers basically owns the NFC right now, along with Russell Wilson. Not to mention Andrew Luck and Peyton Manning putting up massive numbers.

Then there's that guy, Eli Manning -- in Griffin's own division -- who possesses not one but two Super Bowl rings.

I like his confidence. It could be false confidence, considering I've seen this same ol' song-&-dance before. Dude boosts his ego and then proceeds to lay an egg, all in a quest to re-discover the success he had as a rookie in 2012.

Think about it, though. Do you really want your chucker boasting about how average he is?

Gotta love how Griffin shoots for the stars, even though I'm starting to think his spacecraft will never leave the earth's atmosphere.

I'm sure next year we'll hear the same thing, even when the Skins manage a 4-12 record.

When that time comes, feel free to insert Kirk Cousins' I'm the best quarterback in the league quotes.
