Pete and a Repeat

Today's NFL game between the Broncos and Seahawks is, as the great Yogi Berra once said, like de-ja-vu all over again.

But this will be for more reason than one.

Yes, of course it's a rematch of Seattle's slicing and dicing of Denver in last season's Super Bowl. I think today's outcome will be somewhat similar. Maybe not the 43-8 whitewashing that we saw seven months ago, but certainly enough for Head Coach Pete Carroll's team to cover Bovada's five-point line posted for the contest.

Seattle won't be in the best of spirits first of all, coming off last week's upset loss to San Diego. And there's no better way to get back on track than to play on the home turf. The Bovada data tool on the Home page will help tell the story. It's you'll see the Seahawks have won an incredible 18 of their last 19 at home.

So recent history is absolutely on Seattle's side. I'm going to bet  that they'll win it by enough. And I feel good about that.

The Broncos come in off a win over Kansas City last week, but this was not the sort of Bronco blowout that we've grown accustomed to seeing.  After a fast start, Denver was held to only three second-half points and nearly watched the Chiefs tie the game in the closing seconds before the Broncos dug in for a badly-needed stand deep in their own red zone.

Wes Welker's return to the Denver offense will help, but not as much as Denver will need. Look for the always deafening Seahawk crowd to be a little louder  -- if that's possible -- today with the Broncos in town and considering their team is coming off a rare loss. To steal another cliché, Seattle scores early, often, and makes a great bet to slide by the five they're laying.

My pick:  Seattle     -5
