Jimmy G Got Paid; Star NFL Slingers Took Note

Talk about catching a perfect wave.

Jimmy Garopollo was ready for his moment, and it couldn't have come at a better time.

Dude went from clipboard carrier to franchise cornerstone in only seven starts, but that included invaluable time well and truly learning the trade with the NFL's best team.

That's right. There's not a move he doesn't know on the sideline.

But he made the most of his time when the Pats didn't want Tom Brady hurt for no good reason. Here he is in an pre-season game a season ago:

However it transpired that Bill Belichick had to part with Garopollo may never be fully known, but the former Eastern Illinois Panther was there with the goods when his time finally came.

But until it happened, who knnw it would be in San Francisco?

Dude just ground his way to pole position in the musical chairs that is NFL slinger salary drives.

It's not often an NFL player has only seven career starts under his belt and becomes the league's highest-plaid player.

It's a sweet deal, and it just made a buncha fellow QBs happy, too. There's a crop of more highly credentialed veterans out there, and every year, one of them's gonna get a better deal than the dude before.

It's damn near a perpetual motion machine.

Full marks to Jimmy G, though. He got a break, proving his worth before becoming a free agent. He's also one of the few these days who did it the old way, carrying a clipboard for a few seasons before getting his moment.

The 49ers must be pinching themselves. It's a sure think Garopollo is.
