Jet Fans Furious over the Signing of Vick

If you thought New York Jets fans are thrilled that the team signed Michael Vick, you'd be wrong.

In fact, they downright hate the idea.

Most of the attitude stems from the fact that Vick was sent to prison for fighting and killing pit bulls.

Here's just a snippet of what they had to say on a Jets fan page:

“He electrocuted dogs in a bathtub for fun. I’m supposed to root for this guy?” growled Ryan Breslin on the team's Facebook page. “As ashamed as I’ve ever been to be a Jets fan and that’s saying something.”

Another fan shared the same sentiment.

“Jets fan for 28 years. My father almost 60 years. We will not watch or support the team in any way this season,” wrote Amanda Sozio Bajek.

Some fans are even starting up boycott pages against Vick and the Jets. While the reports are that Jets management talked to NFL commissioner Roger Goodell about his status before they signed him, some people will never forgive or forget what he did.

“We welcome Michael Vick to our team,” said Jets owner Woody Johnson in a statement Friday. “We fully understand the gravity of some of his past actions, believe that he has paid his debt to society, and taken advantage of his second chance.”

Well, they should feel that way. The Jets are saving big bucks and putting the butt fumbler into their archives.

I was upset when I heard what Vick did a few years ago, but it's time to move on. He's been a model citizen, and he served his time.

So, offended fans need to either get with the program or go pull for the Giants.
