It's Not Frozen Tundra in August

The Seattle Seahawks visit Lambeau Field for a pre-season battle tonight with the Green Bay Packers in a game that has all the makings of what should actually be a fun one to watch.

And a fun football game for fans to watch usually means a plethora of points are scored.

That's what I see happening tonight, and there are plenty of reasons to support it.

First of all, there are Seattle's first two pre-season games, where they've put up 31 and 40 points in their victories over the Chargers and Broncos. Next, couple that with the fact that the Seahawks will now play their offensive starters in tonight's game longer than an either of their first two.

Then there's the Packers, who haven't really hit their stride yet on offense. They've only scored 22 points in their two games so far, and that isn't sitting well with coach Mike McCarthy. I look for Aaron Rodgers & Company to come out much more crisply and looking more like the Packer offense we've been accustomed to seeing the last several seasons.

McCarthy has also said he may put unproven players into the game earlier than normal to help him make decisions on his depth chart. Now, many of those players are on the defensive side of the ball. Unproven defensive players against this Seattle juggernaut should only help in these two teams send the score at least one point over Bovada's total.

As well, Vince Young will see plenty of second half action, as he's now in his third week of learning the Packer offense. I think that will also offer scoring opportunities later in the game against mostly inexperienced defensive personnel for Seattle.

You can also look at the recent history between these two by using Bovada's data tool on the Home page and see these two passed tonight's Bovada total of 43 in seven of their last 10 meetings. I don't know how much that helps, but it certainly doesn't hurt the case for the over.

After last night's debacle in Detroit (I had the Patriots), we badly need a rebound, and in the two football games tonight, this clearly is the best chance to do so. I like this play a ton.

My pick:  Seahawks vs Packers     over 43

UPDATE:

Result ... Seattle 17 Green Bay 10     Total points = 27     under covers
