Here's a Rekindled Rivalry to Lay It on the Line

At various times, both the Colorado Buffaloes and Nebraska Cornhuskers got sick and tired of enduring the Texas Longhorns toss their considerable financial weight around the Big 12 Conference.

And, at different times, they left.

Unfortunately, this scotched one of the more intriguing rivalries in college football. That's because it wasn't really one until then-Buffs coach Bill McCartney his program needed one that could have a national impact.

Could be. No one else really missed it when it was gone.

But now it's back, and perhaps in a nod to the past, it's intruiging again.

Bovada has set Colorado's moneyline at +175.

Due to inclement weather, the Big 12 canceled Nebraska’s opening game agains Akron last week.

So much for a tune-up. This one's the Huskers' first game of the season.

Nobody knows if Scott Frost’s offensive system that worked so well at Central Florida works well in Lincoln.

Meanwhile, Colorado’s defense held rival Colorado State to only 13 points in the Buffs’ 45-13 Week 1 victory.

Dudes need slinger Steven Montez to be sharp this season, and he's off to a good start:

Toss in the fact that Colorado's never hidden their inner feelings about their neighboring state, as is often portrayed by the creators and Centennial State residents of South Park ...

... and this might return to being a rivalry yet.

Bettors might overplay Nebraska in this one because of Frost’s reputation. Still don't forget that when he took over UCF, the Knights went 6-7 in their first season.

This batch of Huskers is coming off a 4-8 season. It's not like he's taking over a finely tuned machine.

It could well take him some time to bring Nebraska back.

Moneyline Pick: Colorado +175

Bet at 5dimes

Result: Colorado 33 Nebraska 28 ... Buffaloes cover
