Gut Feeling: NFL Coaches Turn to Andy Reid for Secrets to Health, Longevity

The health crises encountered by John Fox and Gary Kubiak over the weekend were a sobering reminder of the monumental pressures and stresses riding shotgun with an NFL head coaching job.

But with adversity comes opportunity: in this case, a chance for the league's honchos to re-assess their lifestyles and bring about necessary change.

Who should they turn to? Which sideline peer points the way?

Why, Andy Reid, of course.

The Round Mound of Fourth Down has coached at the highest level for fifteen years, fourteen of them in the urban atherosclerosis of Philadelphia. Throughout all that time, Reid has handled the suffocating duress with calm, balance and a bag of Lay's. Not once has he crumpled to the turf clutching his chest. On no occasion has he assumed a fetal position and cried out for his Gam-Gam.

His moustache has never wavered. His pants size has never altered. His Kansas City Chiefs are 9-0 and he remains as always: rosy of cheek, plump of fetlock and firm of buttock.

So, what's his secret? DNA? Attention to detail. A digital diet? Thirty-one other coaches would love to know.

Of course, if they can't scale the Everest heights of health set by Andy Reid, there is another way to prolong one's life.

A deal with The Devil.
