Goodell's Pitiful Presser Makes for Prime-Time Pin Cushion

Some targets are just too tempting.

Even the clueless ones.

And that's where NFL Commish Roger Goodell finds himself these days, whether he knows it or not.

The latest to lob a few easy grenades his way is HBO comedian John Oliver, who summed up the fluffiness of Goodell's presser with numerous nods to its hypocrisy and added the zinger of the week:

Indeed, the "change" that's needed is at the top.

Like that's gonna happen.

Get this response from Pittsburgh Steelers owner Art Rooney II when NBC sideline reporter Michelle Tafoya asked him about the so-called impartiality of the upcoming 'investigation' of Goodell's gaffes:

We understand the scrutiny we'll be under ... [and] we don't want to be part of a whitewash.

Too bad he couched that with remarks about how the Commish shouldn't be canned for 'one' mistake -- as if -- and that he still has the confidence of the owners.

In any other situation, that would sound like a great tactic to get out of jury duty.
