Geno Smith Makes Great Strides to Become Average QB

When the New York Jets took Geno Smith in the second round of the 2013 NFL Draft, I wondered how long it would take for him to become the next hype machine.

He hasn't quite reached that level yet, but give it time.

Smith feels that he has made a "huge leap with the NY Jets," making the transition to a pro-style offense after spending his collegiate career in a spread, pass-happy system.

But let's be honest. If he didn't stand out amoung a faltering Mark Sanchez, an undersized Greg McElroy, and a now-departed Tim Tebow, the Jets would have made another huge mistake.

There were several destinations I thought Smith could go and develop into a decent NFL quarterback, but New York was certainly not one of them.

So only time will tell how long it will take Jet fans to boo the starting QB, call for Smith, cheer when he completes his first pass, and boo again when he throws a pick-six on the following play.
