Angry White Dude: It's Kinda Maddening

Haven't we been through this before?

Cincinnati Bengals cornerback Adam Jones pleaded guilty recently to a single misdemeanor charge from an altercation earlier this year after two other charges were dropped as part of a plea agreement.

Jones was arrested --again -- at a hotel in downtown Cincinnati in January after he allegedly pushed a security guard, poked him in the eye, and refused to comply with law enforcement officers.

Dude faced misdemeanor charges of assault, disorderly conduct and obstructing official business, not to mention a felony count of harassment with a bodily substance.

  • Judge Dwane Mallory dismissed misdemeanor counts of assault and disorderly conduct at the prosecutor's request.
  • He sentenced Jones to time already served -- two days -- on the obstructing official business count.
  • The Hamilton County prosecutor earlier dismissed the felony count, which had alleged that Jones spit on a jail nurse.

So much for not wanting to be called Pac-Man anymore.

The 33-year-old NFL veteran adolescent apologized in court for his behavior and specifically to a Cincinnati police officer to whom he made profane comments after his arrest.

Who knows if he really meant it this time?

A video released by the Cincinnati police showed Jones cursing at the officer while in the back of a police car and telling him "I hope you die tomorrow!"

Are you serious? I hope you die tomorrow?

Of course, Bengals owner Mike Brown is standing by his player 100%.

He knows full well what he has done to himself

Brown told Bengals.com and the Cincinnati Enquirer as part of his statement:

He regrets it. But it's been made into a public issue, and maybe I am overly tolerant. If so, so be it.

Overly tolerant? The Bungles Bengals? No way!

It doesn't stop there.

Head coach Marvin Lewis said he thought some parts of Jones's arrest were blown out of proportion.

Which part, coach?

  • The part where Jones allegedly pushed a security guard, poked him in the eye, and refused to comply with law enforcement officers?
  • Or was it the part where he shouted at the officer "I hope you die tomorrow!"

Please tell us. We're dying to know!

How long is Pac-man Jones's rap sheet?

Well, I did. Here we go:

13 Jul 2005 ... Two weeks before training camp is scheduled to begin, Jones is arrested by Nashville police at Titans headquarters. He's charged with assault and felony vandalism stemming from a nightclub altercation.

5 Sep 2005 ... Six days before the season opener at Pittsburgh, Jones attends the annual Nashville Sports Council Kickoff Luncheon. Later, Jones has a loud, verbal tantrum when told he must wait in line for his vehicle, according to witnesses. He does not pay for valet service.

25 Oct 2005 ... Five days before the eighth game of the season, it is alleged by the state of West Virginia that Jones has violated the terms of his probation, going back to a suspended sentence after a barroom brawl during his freshman year at college. A judge extends his probation 90 days.

6 Feb 2006 ... Jones is arrested in Fayetteville, Georgia and charged with possession of marijuana. He's handcuffed after throwing a punch at an officer, according to police, and charged with a felony count of obstruction and two misdemeanors of obstructing police. The drug charge is dismissed in January 2007, although his mother Deborah and a friend, Marcus Bowens, are convicted of possession of marijuana. Jones had to make another court appearance to face the obstruction charges.

23 Mar 2006 ... A Fayette County drug task force SWAT team serves a search warrant at the Georgia home Jones bought for his mother. When Jones steps out of his Corvette, a drug investigator notices that the car reeks of marijuana. Jones admits to police he's been smoking and that it will be several weeks before he's able to pass a drug test.

18 Apr 2006 ... According to Nashville police, who cite surveillance camera footage, Jones is one of a dozen people gathered at a gas station when a fight breaks out and gunshots are fired.

25 Aug 2006 ... Jones is arrested in Murfreesboro, Tennessee for disorderly conduct and public intoxication. At the Sweetwater Saloon, he's accused of assault by Toya Garth, who says Jones spit in her face and she spit back. A judge sentences Jones six months probation provided he stays out of further trouble.

26 Oct 2006 ... Jones is cited for misdemeanor assault at Club Mystic, a Nashville nightclub, where he allegedly spits in the face of a female college student. He's suspended for one game by the Titans, on 5 Nov at Jacksonville.

19 Feb 2007 ... Jones is present when an early morning brawl breaks out at Minxx Gentlemen's Club in Las Vegas. Three people are shot. Club co-owner Robert Susnar claims the shooter -- still at large -- acted on Jones' behalf. Jones denies this. No charges have been brought against Jones.

I'm 'way too tired of typing to go on with this craziness. Suffice to say Jones was a bully and a troublemaker.

Looks like he still is.

How is this dude still in the NFL?

Hey, Mike Brown and Coach Lewis are behind him 100%. Blown out of proportion?

Poor Pacman. Always in the wrong place at the wrong time. Always the man trying to keep him down.

Does anyone in Cincinnati get it? I guess not. Time for the NFL to get real and get this jerk outta the league. He's had enough chances!
