Adrian Peterson Wants to Be a Cowboy, Baby

Excuse the Minnesota Vikings fans, who might not know what to think these days.

Their only reason for having a chance in hell of making the playoffs wants to be a Cowboy.

That would be one Adrian Peterson.

And if that's the case, I hope he's seen the checklist:

Excerpts from an article by Dan van Natta Jr in ESPN the Magazine says Peterson contacted Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry  Jones about becoming a Cowboy.

The conversation went a little like this:

Well, I understand, Adrian. I'd like that, too ... Well, I love your story. I love your daddy's story. I've always respected what you've been about. I've always been a fan of yours. Well, we'll see what we can do, if we can make that happen. Hmm-hmm ... I'd like that, too ... Well, we're talking pig Latin here, but let's see if we can do that. We're talking pig Latin here, but let's see what we can do about that. OK, Adrian, thanks.

Are we sure that was Peterson on the other end or was it Jake from State Farm? That dialog sounds awfully familiar.

So, is Texas Peterson's idea of a better state?

Could this be considered tampering by the NFL? Who knows what conspiracy theories lurk in the recesses of the Commish's mind? But since Peterson called Jones and nothing happened on the trade front, I think that'd be a stretch. Even if he was wearing khakis.

But what does it say about the Vikings that their best player would rather be with an average Cowboys team?

To me, Peterson would rather be in the spotlight than win a championship, and bright lights are all Jones and his team have right now. And trust me, none of them are positioned over their heads.

Philosoraptor

It's either that or Peterson is just a glutton for punishment.
