Winston Accuser Plans to Sue Him

While Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston was celebrating his team's victory over the Auburn Tigers last Monday night, this story was overlooked.

Of course, we've been hearing about it for over two months.

The woman who accused Winston of assaulting  her is planning to bring a lawsuit against him and the Tallahassee Police Department.

The accuser filed charges against Winston back in December 2012, but the case wasn't officially looked into until almost a year later.

It shouldn't come as much of a surprise because the accuser's lawyer pretty much indicated that this was probably going to happen down the road, especially since the Florida state attorney's office decided not to file charges against Winston.

“Absolutely you’re going to see a civil suit,” Patricia Carroll, the attorney for the accuser  said. “You can not have law enforcement that is not held accountable.”

“The family is proceeding, with civil action against the TPD and Jameis Winston. And possibly the university,” she added.

Since telling her story, the young lady in question, who was a student at FSU, has been harassed by her fellow students. It probably didn't help the TPD and FSA offices' image to hold a press conference with a bunch of giggling media members who didn't seem to take the case seriously.

But what really didn't help was the idea that the TPD might have covered up this incident to save Winston and his career at FSU. That's probably the most damaging element of all.
