South Carolina Investigating Jay Z's Sports Agency

South Carolina linebacker Jadeveon Clowney has made more than just a few headlines lately.

His week began with reports that the hit he administered in the Michigan game, which also won him an ESPY for play of the year, would have him ejected today because of a new NCAA targeting rule.

Now, there are reports that Clowney is being pursued by Jay Z for his services, once he declares for the NFL Draft. This conjecture is understandably making everyone -- well, almost everyone; looking at you, Clemson fans! -- in the Palmetto State very nervous.

So nervous, in fact, that South Carolina is looking into this. According to reports, Jay Z's new sports agency, Roc Nation, is actively pursuing the star athlete.

According to NCAA rules, you can speak to an agent, but you can't make deals or accept money. If Clowney did that, it's an NCAA violation that could make Clowney ineligible, which is why the Gamecocks are looking into the matter.

Nothing has been found at this point, but Clowney seems to be confirming the rumor that he will eventually sign with Jay Z, saying this on Twitter:

Roc Nation just signed basketball player Kevin Durant as a client, and they also represent New York Jets quarterback Geno Smith and New York Yankees second baseman Robinson Cano. South Carolina better hope all this talk about Clowney is just that, TALK.  Or it will be "Hard Knock Life" for them and Clowney.
