Saban Responds to Stoops Comments

You knew the SEC wasn't going to take Bob Stoops' comments laying down, and it wasn't too long before Stoops' comments got around to one Nick Saban.

Saban, who was out of town at an Alabama event, at first had no idea what Stoops had said, but once he found out, he put all the talk to rest quickly.

"Well, we don’t play everybody in the Big 12 or whatever it is, so I really don’t know much about their league.

We have a lot of respect for what they do at Oklahoma, and I really don’t think that people [who] don’t play in our league really don’t understand the quality of our league from top to bottom."

"I think there’s probably a lot of animosity out there because of the success that we have in our league, but I think that kind of goes with the territory.

I understand that. But we certainly respect the great program that they have at Oklahoma and the other good programs that they have in the Big 12."

Translation: Stoops is being a hater and is jealous of how much success the SEC has had against him and the Big 12's success is not even close to the SEC.

Saban gave Stoops so much shade that he won't be able to come from under it until the fall.

Maybe by then Stoops' Oklahoma team won't find itself out the national championship hunt as they usually are by that time of the year, but don't count on it.
