Gruden and Sumlin Up for USC job

According to the Los Angeles Times, USC has narrowed down it coaching search to two candidates.

One name is missing. Ed Orgeron's.

One of the others might surprise you.

SC is going after Texas A&M head coach Kevin Sumlin. Not unexpected. He's a hot commodity rignt now.

The other is former NFL head coach Jon Gruden.

According to some sources, Sumlin is the Trojans' top choice. Others say it's current ESPN NFL analyst Jon Gruden, which to me, would be a more ideal fit than Sumlin.

Gruden knows the area. He coached out there, and it seems to me he may be able to navigate the waters better.

Sumlin, though, may be the better coach. He's won everywhere he's been, including the University of Houston. He has a high-powered offense, and he knows how to coach quarterbacks.

Just not sure that Sumlin has the right personality for such a laid-back atmosphere.

The question is, will either one listen? And if they both turn down the position, who do they turn to next? Nick Saban?

Just kidding, but at this rate, you never know.
