Dumb Stuff 101: TD Celebration Costs Georgia a WR for the Season

Bad news comes in threes for the Georgia Bulldogs:

  • They lost to Clemson 38-35,
  • They're going to drop in the polls as a result, and now,
  • Their leading wide receiver is out for the rest of the season.

Bulldogs head coach Mark Ritcht announced that wide receiver Malcolm Mitchell will miss the rest of the 2013 campaign after tearing the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee.

I don't know what hurts worse for the Bulldogs, Mitchell's injury or how he got injured.

"He actually hurt it in the exuberance of the first touchdown of the game for us," Richt said on a conference call.

"He went to congratulate his teammate and I think they jumped up and chest-bumped or whatever, and it ended up that he landed in a bad way. So he knew something happened. "

As if Richt needed another headache this week as he prepares for South Carolina. He has enough to worry about, especially with fans calling a call-in show crying and begging for him to be fired.

Going to be a long week for Ritcht and his Bulldogs. Especially at the end of it.

South Carolina's waiting.
