Corey Sutton's Finally Granted Freedom from Kansas State

Well, that was completely unnecessary.

After much hemming and hawing, Kansas State has released wide receiver Corey Sutton from his collegiate bondage.

For whatever reason, the school created much senseless drama by initially denying the 19-year-old's request to be released from his athletic scholarship in order to transfer to another university.

But why all the histrionics with what's a perfectly normal -- and these days, commonplace -- request?

Sutton was not happy at the school for a number of reasons, as these tweets would indicate.

However, after the kid followed protocol and even provided the school with a list of 35 acceptable landing spots for transfer, the unusually cantankerous coach, Bill Snyder, denied them all.

He did so despite the fact that the list didn't include any future K-State opponents.

In a futile attempt to explain his actions, the OG even hinted at a pair of failed drug tests on the part of Sutton, which even if true has no bearing on the situation.

Many were outraged at these developments, including attorney Jay Bilas.

Mercifully, this sad saga has finally ended, much to the relief of Sutton himself.

It sounds like he just staggered out of Guantanamo.

Coach Snyder, perhaps realizing how this all looked, apologized for mentioning the failed drug tests and seemed to suggest that players shouldn't be allowed to renege on commitments, even if they're terribly unhappy.

Go Wildcats!
