Auburn's Malzahn Takes Dig at Bama

Before Gus Malzahn took over as head coach at Auburn, the Tigers had lost four of five to their arch rival Alabama. But that all went away when the Tigers defeated the Tide on a miracle play that sent them to the SEC Championship game and later to the national championship game against Florida State.

But maybe the most important trophy won by the Tigers last season was the ODK Trophy, which is given to the winner of the Iron Bowl, with the recipient being the winning school's SGA president.

This year, the Alabama SGA president was supposeb to present the trophy to Auburn at the Tide v Tigers basketball game.

Yes, they present the football trophy at a basketball game two months later. Don't ask why.

Anyway, because of "weather," Alabama's SGA president didn't make it to Auburn. Big surprise, but that didn't stop Malzahn or his players from accepting the trophy. And not missing an opportunity to upbraid an absent rival, the Tigers coach had a poignant prediction upon accepting it:

Malzahan seems pretty confident about that boast, but if history is any indication, the Tigers may not see that trophy again for a while.

Since becoming coach at Alabama, Nick Saban has won the Iron Bowl in 2008,  2009, 2011, and 2012. His losses were 2007, 2010 and 2013,

As Meatloaf once said, two out of three ain't bad.
