Auburn RB Says He Can Run on Bama D

You can tell it's Iron Bowl week.

Smack talk is in full throat.

Auburn running back Tre Mason must not have read the memo that says you go full lips on the Alabama defense at your peril.

Mason told reporters today the Tigers will run on the Tide.

"I'm pretty confident [we can run on Alabama]. We've been running all year."

OK, that works. A player has to have that sort of self-assuredness. However, Mason wasn't finished yet. He let fly that his father will be attending the game Saturday, and "I'm gonna put on a show for him."

That show will be telling.

The last player who questioned the Alabama defense was Ole Miss quarterback Bo Wallace, who called out the Alabama secondary. The result: a  25-0 Tide whitewashing over the Rebels.

Tre Mason wasn't the only Auburn player doing some talking Tuesday. Defensive end Dee Ford added a little smack talk of his own about Bama QB AJ McCarron.

"He hasn't been hit all year, and we want to see what he can do after he's hit."

Ford must have forgotten that McCarron and the Alabama offense has put up 42 and 49 points, respectively, on the Auburn defense the last two years. McCarron threw multiple touchdown passes in both of those games.

Don't expect the Alabama players to comment anytime soon. Their answers will be on the field Saturday.
