Alabama WR Quits Team for a Day, but That's It

Alabama wide receiver Kenny Bell announced via Twitter that he is quitting football today to concentrate on his kids and family.

The Crimson Tide had their way with Virginia Tech's Fighting Gobblers, but Bell was blanked on the stat sheet. He didn't catch a pass.

Ergo, he had plenty of time to think about the home fires and how nobody could ever get kicked out of a game for targeting him if he was out there on a field somewhere.

What a considerate young man!

Sure, Kenny. We understand.

In three years with the Tide, Bell caught 36 passes for 712 yards and five touchdowns. Apparently, he thought he wasn't going to play enough this season to catch many more.

But that's when good ol' Papa Nick sidled up, gave him a great big hug, and talked family. Tide family, no doubt.

Hugs work, you know. So does getting your number called more often.

And everybody is going to live happily ever after.

Even Bell's family. Sooner or later.
