Alabama Lands No 1 Recruit in the Nation

The hits just keep coming for the No 1 team in the country.

Today, Alabama learned they landed the No 1 player -- according to some -- in the country, offensive tackle Cameron Robinson

Robinson, the 6-foot-5, 330-pounder from Monroe, Louisiana, committed to the two-time defending champions over LSU live on ESPNU.

"My key factors [for choosing a school] were, most importantly, where I feel most comfortable and what school I felt like set me up to be the most successful for the next four years," Robinson explained.

What doesn't hurt either is that Robinson's childhood friend Cameron Sims, who is a wide receiver, also committed to the Tide a few weeks ago.

"Alabama's a great program," Robinson continued. "Every time I was able to get down to Tuscaloosa, I was able to sit down and talk with Coach Saban, Coach Napier, and Coach Cristobal. I just developed a really strong relationship with them."

No word as to whether or not he got a hug from Kenny Bell.

Robinson went on to say that he hopes to work hard and compete for a starting role next year on the Tide's offensive line. And the way the Tide's O-line looked this past Saturday against Virginia Tech, I'd say his chances of quickly becoming a starter would be very good.

Very good indeed.
