NCAA Referee Being Harassed by Deranged Kentucky Fans

College basketball is more or less an organized religion in the state of Kentucky.

As such, the Kentucky Wildcat fanbase is one of the most passionate groups in any sport.

Sometimes, though, a little perspective is necessary.

Last weekend, Kentucky lost 75-73 to North Carolina in the Elite 8, falling just short of the Final Four.

This game was obviously tight and hard fought, but it also included some questionable calls from the officials.

Of course, the same can be said for pretty much every tournament game.

However, some overzealous and quite possibly insane Kentucky fans didn't get that memo.

These fine human beings have decided to systematically harass referee John Higgins, who had the misfortune of being on the crew in question.

This poor bastard owns a roofing business with the most clever name of Rooferees, and wouldn't you know it, the company Facebook page has been besieged with negative reviews from some not so well adjusted Kentucky fans.

Apparently, there have also been phone calls placed to his home, some including death threats.

As a result, this dude has been forced to contact the police.

John Calipari was not at all pleased with the officiating, particularly the fact that his team was in such dire foul trouble for much of the game.

He cited this in his post game remarks, but after the social media assault on Higgins played out, Calipari was compelled to gently scold the fanbase.

It certainly bears mentioning that this is only a small fraction of the Wildcat brethren behaving in this grotesque fashion.

For example, Ashley Judd has nothing to do with this.

She's good people.
