NC State Drops Dookies in Raleigh

The Wolfpack's getting kinda good at this.

Dudes strolled into Krzyzewskiville last season and snagged an impressive 84-82 upset over Duke's vaunted Blue Devils, and now, they've done it again.

This time, North Carolina State's home fans got treated to a solid display of hoops by the home team -- especially on defense -- as they claimed as second straight victory, this time a convincing 96-85 victory.

Not sure what first-year coach Kevin Keatts said or fed to his crew, but it sure beat the hell outta whatever it was they got on the Pack's the last two games, both on the road and neither of which were close:

  • They got smacked around at Clemson, 78-62, and
  • Notre Dame throttled them, 88-58.

But there was hope.

MIke Krzyzewski makes no secret of his disdain for the NBA's one-&-done policy, but he finally succumbed to the reality these past three seasons and done well by it because he's an awesome coach.

But he realizes those prodigies rarely learn the ways of defense in high school. Dudes are so far ahead of that level, they rarely bother to work on it.

It seems to take the balance of a season, but Coach K manages to pound the niceties of D into them.

Until then, they're vulnerable when an opponent puts a solid effort together.

Or rolls snakeyes, as North Carolina State just did.
