Michigan Hoops Squad Survives Aborted Plane Takeoff to DC

Winning despite adversity is always a fun narrative in sports.

Of course, these stories can sometimes seem almost too farfetched to be true.

The Michigan men's basketball team recently provided one such tale.

The Wolverines' initial flight to DC for the Big Ten tournament was brief, but eventful.

Yikes!

That was not an ideal way to prepare for your conference tourney, particularly when your team was allegedly on the bubble.

Our resilient heroes played their first game of the Big Ten tourney against Illinois in practice jerseys after arriving only a few hours before the opening tip.

The Wolverines beat the Illini, 75-55.

Next up was an overtime win over top-seeded Purdue.

Finally on Sunday, Michigan took down Wisconsin, 71-56, winning the Big Ten title and automatic bid to the Big Dance.

Michigan, a No 8 seed in their own conference tourney, earned a No 7 seed for the main event.

No word yet on what mode of transport the team will be using to get to Indianapolis.

Perhaps air travel is the way to go.
