Boston College Drops the Dookies

So far, the early Division I hoops season has been one of upheaval.

Consider this week alone:

Now, the carnage has claimed No 1 Duke.

The Blue Devils program is nothing like Kentucky's one-&-done way station, but this year's starting lineup features four frosh who could conceivably be hearing their names called at next spring's NBA draft.

But after Duke's 89-84 loss to Boston College, maybe coach Mike Krzyzewski's warning that scouts watch both ends of the court will finally start to register.

Simply stated, Duke's defense sucks.

That played right into the hands of Boston College's guard-oriented attack. The Blue Devils may have had an edge in talent, but Coach K's system has yet to be fully absorbed by his new arrivals.

So, stuff like this can happen:

Of course, this result was met with unbridled joy by a certain segment of college basketball fandom:

Clearly, and oldie but a goodie.

The Golden Eagles put the clamps on likely NBA top overal pick-in-waiting Michael Bagley III in the second half, holding him to one interior shot -- and three frustration heaves beyond the arc -- in the second half.

No one else really picked up the slack, and Krzyzewski now has an attention-getting teachable moment.

Not to mention an 0-1 record in the ACC.
