Angry White Dude: The New Curse In Town

Do you believe in curses?

Not as in foiled again! Society has seemed to find baser replacements for that one.

I'm talking curses, like The Madden Curse. Or the Sports Illustrated Curse with exceptions made for appearing on the cover three years prior.

Well, now the sporting world's got a new one.

Really cursed, in fact, if you include what happened to staff at ESPN itself. That's a lotta curse firepower, right there.

Welcome to the stormy world of black clouds. We now have an ESPN The Magazine Curse.

Feel free to refer back to my story about this borderline-fake news publication proclaiming that Tiger Is Back. Dude was, in a way; 'way, 'way back from the leaders in that tournament.

Lets take a look at this month's cover, shall we?

Ahhh, yes, The Rapture of The Raptors ...

Also making a cameo in the pic is a very hairy armpit. Nothing comes out of this one unscathed.

The story was written by Rachel Nichols of ESPN fame who took a chance on that story and got shot down in flames. Ms Nichols might have a journalism degree, but as a fourtune teller, she seems to be a few semester hours short of graduation.

Ms Nichols wrote that -- after years of playoff disappoinment -- the Raptors are hell bent on owning the road to the NBA finals.

Wow, perhaps her definition of hell bent is a bit different than mine.

This team had everything going for them:

  • 59 Wins.
  • Top seed in the East.
  • Cleveland looking more vulnerable than they've been in quite some time.
  • Knocking off Washington in the first round of the playoffs, 4-2, which was nothing to get worked up about, really.

Bring on the Cavs!

As you know, Toronto just lost four in a row to the vulnerable Cavs. Embarrassed by the best player in the world, and -- don't fool yourself -- the real MVP of the NBA.

The team hell bent on owning the road to the NBA Finals got got owned. They dropped the first two games at home.

While LeBron James was pumping in 29 points in the fourth and final game of the series, those ESPN The Magazine cover boys combined for 18 points and DeRozan got himself ejected with a Flagrant 2 in the third quarter!

Hell bent? Hell, yeah!

It's not enough to talk the talk, you've got to be able to walk the walk.

The ESPN the Magazine Curse is alive and well.

As if the Raptors needed another curse.

When you believe in things that you dont understand, then you suffer! Superstition ain't the way!
