Mr Triple-Double Amazes Us Again

Is this the reincarnation of Oscar Robertson?

Lets not get too ahead of ourselves. I think we're all just prisoners of the moment.

But these moments are extending themselves.

Russell Westbrook is amazing us all with his ferocity. I swear he doesn't have an off switch. He may not even be human because I don't think I've seen him even break a sweat.

Since the All-Star break, Westbrook is averaging 33.3 points, 10.1 rebounds and 11 assists.

If Kevin Durant is Batman, Westbrook is Batman's twin brother.

He's put the Oklahoma City Thunder on his back with Durant out of the lineup. Yes, the Thunder are barely holding on to the eighth playoff spot in the West, but where would they be without the daily heroics of Westbrook?

Last Friday, a Thunder win against the Timberwolves resulted in Westbrook's 8th triple-double of the season. We haven't seen anything like this since the Jason Kidd era.

Westbrook is being mentioned in the same category as Jordan, Magic, and Lebron. He must be doing something right.

Some may question whether or not he's padding his stats or if this is what a point guard should be doing, but Westbrook is a different breed of player. He exerts 100% of himself every game and plays at such a high level for 40-plus minutes per night. His off-the-court work ethic is Kevin Garnettesque, as I'm sure Westbrook finds ways to exercise while sleeping.

Sure, his turnovers are skyrocketing, but his usage rate is on the same level as Kobe Bryant. It seems like he has the ball in his hands almost every possession as the decision-maker for the Thunder. When Durant returns, both of those statistics will start to decline.

Regardless of how this pans out for the Thunder, it's prolific basketball. At least, Westbrook's not banging the basketball off the opposition's rim to solidify himself a triple-double, like Ricky Davis. Still, a bit of stat help here and there never hurts.

He's a naturally gifted all-around basketball player.

So, sit back and enjoy the Russell Westbrook Show. It won't be cancelled.
