Ibaka to the Future

Future bets are not nearly as common as game bets for obvious reasons: no one wants to wait six damn months to get paid out.

The NBA finals is now under two months away, and championship bets on the best teams in the league will start to lose value for every series they win. People, it's time to jump on these lines!

Bovada currently shows the Oklahoma City Thunder as 17/4 odds to win the finals this year. Check it out on our Home page. You can argue that the Heat are a better team (I think that's bullpoopy), but  the Thunder would obviously stand a great chance to beat them regardless. Both teams are incredible.

The biggest reason for OKC's improvement this year, despite losing the Beard, is Serge Ibaka. Ibaka averaged 13.2 points this year, up from 9.1 last year, and did so while raising his field goal percentage from a solid 53.5 to an unconscious 57.3. As a result, the Thunder averaged about two-and-a-half points more per game this season while allowing the same amount as last year.

The Heat won 27 games in a row. Lebron is the best player in the game. Blah. Blah. Blah. Streaks are stupid, and basketball is about more than just one guy. And hey, that guy Kevin Durant is pretty good too.

My pick: Oklahoma City Thunder     17/4      (+425)
