Celtics Top the Dubs; Run Hot Streak to 14

The NBA's only a fifth of the way through its season, of course.

But it's beginning to look like the mad scientist of Boston isn't so wacky anymore.

Danny Ainge wheeled away the first overall selection in last spring's draft and dealed his way into Kyrie Irving at the expense of the Celtics' sparkplug and, just possibly, their most popular player.

For now, he's silenced his critics.

Except for one, maybe.

But that was at halftime.

As we are all aware, promises are meant to be broken.

That's exactly what the Celtics made Sir Charles do, going on a 19-0 run in the third quarter -- maybe they had the TV on in the clubhouse during the break -- to edge the mighty Golden State Warriors, 92-88:

In all, Ainge kept only four players from last season's team on the roster.

Fortunately for him, one was former CalBear Jaylen Brown. Dude kept amazing focus while carrying Boston through that third-quarter run.

The Celts are now 14-2, three games up on the nearly-as-surprising Detroit Pistons in the East with no Cavaliers in sight.

Yet.

That's for another day, though. Right now, Boston's got a double-digit winning streak to tend.
