Celtics Draft Pick Sleeps through Conference Call

Many NBA draft pundits and gurus seem to agree that the Boston Celtics got excellent value with their late first-round pick.

Danny Ainge and his minions selected Texas A&M product Robert Williams, a player some considered to be a potential lottery pick.

This dude clearly has talent, so there must be a reason he slipped so far in the first round.

But fear not, as Williams' introductory conference call may shed some light on the situation.

Well, it appears this lovable goof overslept for the aforementioned call.

Yeah, that might not be the best way to endear yourself to the fanbase and local media in Boston.

What makes this more alarming is that the conference call was scheduled for 11am, so it wasn't exactly an unreasonable hour.

Williams later explained that he was pretty wiped out from the grueling draft carnival, which is certainly valid.

However, for a player who tumbled down all the way to the back end of the first round due in part to concerns about his maturity level and ability to motivate himself, the optics are poor indeed.

Again, though, there's no denying dude's game.

Let's have a look at Williams in some lucid moments on the court.

Yep, that'll work.

It's also worth noting that Williams is going to a pretty solid organization with championship aspirations and a rather bright head coach.

If dude could only stop hitting that snooze button.
