Carmelo's Ready for Knicks Divorce

The Carmelo Anthony era in Knicks history has definitely a divisive one.

While it may seem like decades ago, it’s was only 2011 when the Knicks brought Anthony home to play in the World’s Most Famous Arena.

It's been quite the roller coaster ride:

  • From the highs of a 2012-13 season of winning 54 games as well as the team’s first playoff series win since the days of Jeff Van Gundy,
  • To the recent lows of four consecutive losing and overall humiliating seasons.

Melo’s days in New York have been anything but mellow.

And it seems that Anthony has had it with the Knicks organization.

Anthony wants outta the Knicks organization, preferring to be sent to Houston than to talk to the team about coming back next season.

It’s hard to blame the dude for going sour on arguably the worst-run organization in sports, no matter how much of that dysfunction falls on his shoulders.

Sure Anthony’s biggest headache was Phil Jackson -- who's since been shown the door -- but the team isn’t going to get any better in the immediate future.

The Knicks are saddled with terrible long term contracts in Joakim Noah, Courtney Lee, and -- as of this off-season -- Tim Hardaway Jr.

Plus, they've passed up on dudes like Dennis Smith Jr and Malik Monk to draft Frank Ntilikina, a dude who was chosen because he allegedly got the triangle offense. Now, with the Zen Master elsewhere, that's a system that departed with him.

Anthony's the only top five selection of that super 2003 draft without a ring, and he'll likely never get his chance while he's stuck playing in New York.

The team's basically been trying to trade Melo ever since the 2015 season, but he's always been the one with the final say due to his no-trade clause.

At least Jackson did one decent thing for the former Syracuse Orange.

But it's doubtful Anthony will be to be thanking him anytime soon.

While it was reported that the team was putting Anthony-related trade talks on hold, the stay is surely temporary. With new GM Scott Perry now fully ensconced in the organization, it'll likely be only a matter of weeks -- if not days -- until a deal goes down.

According to Melo, it'll put him in Houston.

And why not? The Rockets are the latest entrant into the super-team wannabe stakes.
